President Obama came to New York City to get the MONEY and VOTES of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Trans community.
Obama has said his views are “evolving,” but for now he supports civil unions, not same-sex marriage. He wants the MONEY and VOTES, however he is NOT in favor of Marriage Equality.
Many LGBT community supporters gathered outside the Sheraton Hotel to ask Obama to support same-sex marriage.
Todd Fernandez of the organization Queer Rising said, “We’re here to nudge the president forward with love, because he’s been an avid support of our cause, obviously, but he’s not gone far enough.”
Dan Fotou of Get Equal, said, “We’re here not only for Obama, but for the donors who are going in there and spending upwards of $1,250 a plate that there’s more that the man needs to do.”
President Obama also attended a private fundraising dinner at Daniel restaurant. Participants paid $35,800 for a seat.
After the dinner, Obama will watch a special fundraising performance of the Broadway musical “Sister Act”.
